We are proud to announce that we have added a Formula One starting option to our SD2 racing system and can
now be purchased with or without the Drag Racing Tree.
The F1 format is in stark contrast to the
NHRA Christmas Tree in that it reflects true reaction times and rewards those with quick reflexes.
Because the amber lights on a pro-stock tree are on for a fixed time duration of .4 seconds it is relatively easy
to acquire a skill for sending the nerve impulse to go without ever seeing green. This is how even amateur drivers can achieve
unrealistic reaction times.
In conclusion, drag racing reaction times are not reaction
times at all. They are educated guess times as the result of rehearsing a predictable start protocol.
On
the other hand, the F1 start sequence takes all the skill out of the equation and puts all the emphasis on natural born talent,
quick reflexes.
The F1 sequence is as follows:
The display
will show the duration of the race in laps.
After the last car to participate has staged,
the display will go blank.
All four digits will illuminate with the number "8", one
at a time, from left to right, at one second intervals.
Once all four digits are lit,
they will stay lit for a random variable delay time ranging for one to five seconds.
The
display will go dark and a tone will sound to start the race.
The unpredictability of the
time delay makes it crucial to wait until actually witnessing the display go dark or risk a high probability of faulting.
Women and children are known to have fast reflexes. If the races are kept short (Less than ten seconds) so that the
start factors into the end result, this start option is very interesting and a lot of fun for everyone.
Thankx
Daniel
